FALLS OF THE WEEK #2 : Catandayagan Falls – A Waterfalls that actually plummets to the Sea!
Unknown by many, there is a huge waterfall that literally drops at the sea. It is found at a large island of Masbate named Ticao Island, to be specific, it is administered by the municipality of San jacinto, Masbate. It is called the Catandayagan Falls. It is a picturesque tourist destination where you have to rent a boat from nearby Donsol, Sorsogon or Monreal, Masbate. You can swim underneath the waterfalls itself and legends state that there is a Huge Sea Monster living beneath the waterfall but it is not proven. The legend has been created to scare off kids on a nearby village so that they won’t swim near Catandayagan Falls.
Today, it is one of the famous spots around Ticao Island. Among other destinations are the Halea Nature Park on a nearby municipality of Monreal where it boasts it’s beautiful cove, a modern lighthouse and a seasonal Shark Feeding activity. That’s right! SHARK FEEDING! And of course, Donsol’s very own Whale Shark Interaction.
